Lesson Policies and Goals

I accept students from age 4 and over (no upper limit).

In-person and online lessons are available. I am comfortable of teaching students living anywhere on the globe for online lessons if we can find a mutually agreeable lesson day/time.

Language spoken for lessons – English, Japanese

I often weave music theory into my student lessons when necessary. However, I would be happy to provide theory lessons separate from piano lessons upon request. Each student comes from a unique background and has individual potential. I check and monitor them closely and do my best to customize their lesson materials, communication, and teaching styles.

Once my students get to an intermediate level, I introduce them to the wonderful world of piano pieces written by famous composers. It is a great way for my students to learn from the language of music scores for interpretation (performance practice). For musicality and piano technique

point of views, I teach them how to relax arms and use gravity for a full and beautiful sound since piano playing is not just moving fingers up and down. When a student gains the appropriate technique of moving arms, wrists, etc., it will be a great benefit for him/her not only to gain dexterity but to create beautiful sounds effectively. It is also very important to gain knowledge and skill to create certain articulation depending on how you approach the piano keys.

My piano studio has two pianos (grand and upright) which enables me to play duets with my students during lessons while maintaining social distance.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions about piano lessons!
