About Yamaha Pianos
For more than a century Yamaha has continued to build pianos with unparalleled Japanese craftsmanship and groundbreaking innovations in technology and design.
About Yamaha
Yamaha’s history began in 1887 and was founded by Torakusu Yamaha in Japan. What began as a piano and reed organ company has flourished to being one of the largest and most reputable manufacturers of musical instruments worldwide. From your living room to the concert stage and everything in between, Yamaha has a piano for every musical style, preference, and skill level.

The Leader in Craftsmanship & Innovation
With a fascination for Western science and technology, Torakusu Yamaha built Japan’s first upright and grand piano in the early 1900s. This grand piano would later go on to receive an Honorary Grand Prize at the St. Louis World’s Fair and by 1965, Yamaha was producing the most pianos of any other company worldwide.
In addition to their acoustic pianos, Yamaha paved the way for digital and hybrid technology which opened a whole new world of possibilities for learning and entertaining. After more than a century of legendary craftsmanship and 8 million pianos, it’s no wonder Yamaha has earned its place as the top choice amongst recording artists, teachers, students, music enthusiasts, and families across the world.
